Amy Burton

In some ways Amy Burton has been moving towards the launch of her eponymous fine jewellery collection her whole life. Born into a family who deal in some of the most exceptional antique and vintage jewels on the market, it was perhaps inevitable that these pieces would inspire her to want to create her own. She joined the family business, Hancocks London, in 2009 and started buying antique and signed jewellery whilst simultaneously studying for diplomas in diamond grading and gemmology at London’s Gemmological Association, gaining the coveted qualifications of D.G.A. and F.G.A.

We worked closely with Amy to develop a look and feel for her brand, creating a stylish website and marketing literature.

ABOUT CORRIDY

The Corridy Story

It’s personal

Corridy is a farm on the Isle of Man that has been in Thalia Bryan’s family for generations.

“Having Corridy in the family means a lot to me and I know how important property is to my clients. That’s why I chose the name. What we do through Corridy is not just business, it’s personal.”

As the daughter of a builder, Thalia learned lessons at a young age about taking care of property, and delivering good value for clients. “My father took great pride in his work and he was very successful over many years. If there was one thing I learned from him, it was that you can’t deliver value if you don’t have good relationships, with clients, contractors, tenants and neighbours.”

Corridy provides quality, independent property management services, building relationships that stand the test of time.

We created a brand identity for the company that reflects its personal story but also what it wants to achieve.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL LITERACY TRUST

One person in six in the UK lives with poor literacy. This holds them back at every stage of their life. As a child they won’t be able to succeed at school, as a young adult they will be locked out of the job market, and on becoming a parent they won’t be able to support their child’s learning.

Lacking these vital skills undermines their well-being and stops them making a full contribution to the economic and cultural life of our nation.

The National Literacy Trust is a national charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK.

We work to improve the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in the UK’s most disadvantaged communities, where up to 40 per cent of people have literacy problems. Our research and analysis make us the leading authority on literacy and drive our interventions. Because low literacy is intergenerational, we focus our work on families, young people and children.

About the Letterbox Club

The Letterbox Club is a programme managed by Booktrust, in partnership with the University of Leicester, which aims to provide enjoyable educational support for looked-after children aged 7-13.

Letterbox Club is available on a subscription basis and each child enrolled by participating local authorities is sent a parcel of books, maths activities, stationery and other materials once every month for six months, from May to October.

Each child participating in the programme receives the brightly coloured parcels directly addressed to them at home. The Letterbox Club is also suitable for other children who would benefit, such as those placed for adoption or for post-adoption support.

Letterbox Club research

Research shows that children in care underachieve in education, but evaluation from pilots of the Letterbox Club has shown that providing parcels designed to encourage fun learning has had a demonstrable impact. Many children began to make more significant changes in their standardised score in reading.

Letterbox Club reach

• Booktrust received support from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to extend the programme to 1,600 children in 2007-08
• In 2009, the Letterbox Club opened to every local authority in the United Kingdom, with over 4,500 children enrolled across the 129 authorities
• 2010 saw further expansion with 4,545 children and 140 local authorities involved
• In 2011, there were again more than 100 local authorities involved with 4,500 children enrolled.
• 2012 saw a record level of sign up, with 120 local authorities and over 5,000 children enrolled.

Letterbox Club parcels

Each Letterbox Club parcel arrives in a brightly coloured package addressed to the child. Each child receives a letter and a range of books that have been carefully selected by the panel at Booktrust for the children in the programme. They also receive number games and a range of stationery items. Over the six-month period the parcels will also include other items such as a library joining card or information about how to join a library, name plates, bookmarks and letters from a selection of children’s authors. We are developing a varied list of possible materials to be added. After being a member of the Letterbox Club for six months the child will have built up their own small library of books, a collection of number games and a variety of stationery items.
