Custom design and developed website, with a variety of special bespoke code builds for some unique features the clients needed for their newly launched and rapidly growing CrossFit gym.

The design had to also show that a CrossFit gym is for all sexes, and not such a masculine heavy approach. I had to keep it strong and yet still fresh and have a sense of fun and softness to it. Was a fun project.

ABOUT BLACK RIVER CROSSFIT

As a Reebok recognised CrossFit facility and Again Faster facility, we pride ourselves on providing you with a top quality training experience whether you are someone who has never done any exercise before or you are a top level athlete. We constantly encourage our coaches to improve their experience and knowledge. We are here to coach you – this means we make sure that you are moving towards being safe, efficient and effective in everything you do in the gym. We will never compromise movement integrity for the sake of lifting more weight or going faster.

We want to educate people about the choices they are making that are negatively affecting their ability to be fit and healthy and give them the tools to regain that fitness and health. In the modern world there is a misunderstanding about what one should and should not be doing in order to become fit and healthy. We want to change this for the members of Black River CrossFit and where we do not have the answer we will strive to associate with professionals who can educate our members about how to become the best they can be because we strongly believe that someone who is fit and healthy is a better person, father, mother, employee, colleague, friend and competitor.

We want people to realise that there is no short cut to becoming fit and healthy, it is not final destination that you suddenly arrive at but rather a never ending journey, a journey that is not easy but one that has significant rewards along the way. Like anything worthwhile in life, it comes with a lot of hard work but we plan to make the journey that much more enjoyable!

The International Ice Swimming Association (IISA) was formed in 2009 by Ram Barkai together with his 4 swimming mates (Andrew Chin, Toks Viviers, Ryan Stramrood and Kieron Palframan) with a vision to formalise swimming in icy water. IISA passion is swimming in icy waters in very location possible around our globe. In order to allow for that IISA has put in place a well considered set of rules to allow for maximum safety measures in this extreme sport and to regulate swim integrity in terms of distance, time, conditions and safety.

ICE MILES AND 1KM SWIMS

IISA introduced the Ice Mile as its ultimate achievement of swimming in ice waters. An Ice Mile is One Mile in water of 5C or less. The swim must be unassisted and with one pair of goggles, cap and standard swimming costume. The Ice Mile is the ultimate personal challenge that should be followed with all the safety and controls in place.

In 2014 IISA introduced the 1km Ice event. The event allows swimmers to compete in icy waters of 5C or less under IISA rules for 1000m. IISA is set out to keep world records with its vision to include Swimming as a category in the Winter Olympic Games and make it globally recognised sport.

The whole project aim to brand, inspire, interest tourists, and create an online presence to sell the clients bespoke travel guided tours online. The subject was close to our ‘African roots’ and with some firm ideas in the clients head, using our creativity and coding skills to bring that through to his online site. To make the customers feel the spirit of Africa and want to sign up immediately for a fantastic African experience.

WHY CHOOSE KIERAN BARNARD SAFARIS

Having lived and worked as a professional safari guide in Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and Namibia; and having lead tours and been on safari in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Uganda I have gained a certain degree of first-hand knowledge which is backed up by recognized professional guiding qualifications in South Africa and Kenya.

When arranging a safari to a particular destination I prefer to hand-pick and carefully select camps or intimate lodges based on prior experience, which I know will be specifically suited to each of my client’s individual needs and interests. I take pride in spending time to get to know each of my clientele’s individual interests and what they wish to gain out of a safari. Each day on safari holds unique moments and so each group on safari is equally as different.

From Walking safaris to horse safaris, hot air balloons to helicopter flips, spicy prawn curry with coconut rice and tumeric in Zanzibar to Springbok fillet and Kudu biltong in Etosha… I enjoy sharing my perspective on Africa & travelling with fun open minded individuals, who have a thirst for new experiences.

Janine, the client, had one request… make her old website come alive! And what a fun task that was. An open brief, phenomenal photography, and completely exciting travel destinations. We also updated the clients logo to keep the ‘African feel’ and make it modern and contemporary. We let the creativity take it’s course, and what flowed was a dynamic online travel presence that any prospective customer taking one look at this travel site will know, that this is the “right” person to organise their African experience!

ABOUT THE NATIONAL LITERACY TRUST

One person in six in the UK lives with poor literacy. This holds them back at every stage of their life. As a child they won’t be able to succeed at school, as a young adult they will be locked out of the job market, and on becoming a parent they won’t be able to support their child’s learning.

Lacking these vital skills undermines their well-being and stops them making a full contribution to the economic and cultural life of our nation.

The National Literacy Trust is a national charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK.

We work to improve the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in the UK’s most disadvantaged communities, where up to 40 per cent of people have literacy problems. Our research and analysis make us the leading authority on literacy and drive our interventions. Because low literacy is intergenerational, we focus our work on families, young people and children.
